Pogo Jump Animation Progression

In a tweet by Chris Chua, animator at Pixar and CalArts grad (who is one of the animators I look up to) gave some great advice:

So decided to do exactly this.

Planning:

Rough Animation:

Cleaned Up

Through this process I learned the importance of planning, I've begun to use reference more and more but before usually never planned an animation out on paper before animating. This experience has 'convinced' me  to always plan out the poses and timing before actually animating and I plan on doing this always.

Princess and the Frog Sketches

Hey there!

Last night I didn't have practice or any homework so I had a little back-to-back animation action. UP then Princess and the Frog. While watching, I was in such an 'Art' mood, I started storyboarding a short and drew a bunch. Here's some sketches from watching Princess and the Frog:

Filbur the Fox

A fox who is friendly to all but a little timid. Afraid of loud noises, he sometimes is reluctant to embark on adventures.

Life Gesture Drawing 012 and 013

Photobucket Gesture Drawing #12 is just practice with the manikin figure in George Loomis' book, "Figure Drawing For All Its Worth". Gesture Drawing #13 is a step up as I started to add muscle.

Mind the figure on the near the bottom-middle, the legs are messed up.

This is really exciting for me, I've been just plain gesture drawing for a while but now I'm stepping up to adding muscles and more developed figures.
